About this grant
KC STEM Alliance provides targeted grants to support FIRST robotics programs in underserved communities across six counties (Johnson and Wyandotte in Kansas; Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte in Missouri). Eligible applicants are K-12 public or private schools and non-profit community organizations serving low-income students (at least 21% eligible for free/reduced lunch) and/or underserved populations (females, minorities, students with disabilities). Priority is given to rookie or young teams, those new to fundraising, and teams with exceptional STEM outreach. Successful applications demonstrate commitment to student team development, volunteer mentor recruitment, robot design and building, and participation in Kansas City FIRST Regional Competitions or Tech Challenge Qualifiers. The process involves submission via online form, review by a grant committee, and winners are notified within 3 weeks of the deadline.
