Annual grants of up to $3,000 to nonprofits, schools and local government serving Marion County, Iowa, with education a named cause.

About this grant

The Foundation funds creative and innovative programs, emerging charitable opportunities, services not presently offered, and capital projects that enhance quality of life in Marion County in areas such as health, education, culture, religion, recreation, or heritage preservation. It does not fund annual operating budgets, crisis intervention, current budget support, deficit elimination, debt reduction, or completed projects. Projects are especially valued if proposed by coalitions, likely to attract matching funds, or replicative in design. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, government entities such as cities, counties and schools, located in and primarily serving Marion County. Applications are submitted online, reviewed by the Distribution Committee on merit, feasibility, and alignment with Foundation priorities, and awards are normally made once per year in May with projects completed by year-end. Grant recipients must complete an evaluation form after project completion or lose eligibility for future grants.
